About Joel
Hello, I'm Joel Marsh, and I'm running for the Town of Firestone Board of Trustees.
My story began in Yorba Linda, California, where I learned early the value of hard work, leadership, service, and taking on challenges. At 15, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout. At 16, I became a land-speed racer at Bonneville, and at 17, I became an entrepreneur, starting and operating Competition Heads.
I graduated from Esperanza High School in Anaheim, California, and went on to build a 17-year career as a business owner, operating Competition Heads full time from 1985 to 2002. I became an ASE Master Automotive Machinist and studied at Fullerton College to further expand my knowledge and skills.
These experiences taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, problem-solving, and personal responsibility.
Family & Colorado
I have been married to my wife since 1997, and we are blessed with three amazing children. In 2005, we moved to Colorado, and I have been proud to call Colorado home ever since.
My commitment to service and leadership has also been an important part of my life. I have served in various Scouting leadership positions, gaining experiences that strengthened my dedication to helping others and building strong communities. I continue that commitment today by working with the young men's program at my church.
Experience & Service
Today, I work as an Account Manager for Premium Parking, continuing to put the values of responsibility, accountability, and service into practice every day.
Seventeen years as a full-time business owner provided firsthand experience managing customers, making decisions, solving problems, and taking responsibility for results.
From earning Eagle Scout at 15 to serving in Scouting leadership and church youth programs, service and leadership have been a consistent part of my life.
A Colorado resident since 2005, I understand the importance of building a community where families can live, work, grow, and build their future.
Why I'm Running
I would be honored to be elected to serve our town and help navigate the many challenges and opportunities we face as Firestone continues to grow.
My leadership experience as an Eagle Scout, along with my experience managing teams and financial accounts in my professional career, has given me a strong foundation in leadership, accountability, teamwork, and responsible decision-making. I believe those experiences will help me contribute thoughtfully as we work through the growing pains that come with a thriving community.
I welcome the opportunity to have open, respectful debates about the solutions to the challenges facing Firestone. I believe our Town Council and staff can provide valuable guidance as we make decisions about responsible growth and our community's future. Most importantly, I believe we must keep our focus on debating the issues, not the individual delivering the point of view. We may not always agree, but we should always be able to work together respectfully.
Transparency also means more than simply putting a 300-page document online. It means making sure residents can understand what we are proposing, what it will cost, why we are doing it, and what alternatives were considered.
As Firestone grows, we also need to think beyond today's needs and plan for tomorrow. According to Town of Firestone workforce data, approximately 84% of Firestone's workforce works outside our community. That makes thoughtful transportation planning especially important. Reliable, accessible public transportation should be part of the conversation as we plan for Firestone's future.
I believe we can grow responsibly, protect the character of our community, invest wisely in our infrastructure, and maintain the trust of the residents we are elected to serve.
Joel Marsh for Firestone
I look forward to listening to residents, learning from our community, and earning the opportunity to serve on the Town of Firestone Board of Trustees.
